Scorpio Electric’s flagship motorcycle with a Research and Development License Plate
SINGAPORE, 15 July 2024 - Scorpio Electric Pte. Ltd. (“Scorpio Electric”), is pleased to announce that we have achieved the milestone of becoming the first Singapore-based electric motorcycle manufacturer to be granted a Special Purpose License (“SPL”) by the Land Transport Authority (“LTA”). This SPL, effective for 12 months starting from mid-July 2024, will allow Scorpio Electric to conduct comprehensive durability and endurance tests of its flagship electric vehicle on public roads in Singapore.
Committed to pushing the boundaries of electric motorcycle technology and contributing to the advancement of sustainable transportation solutions, the data and insights collected from these tests will be instrumental in enhancing the durability and performance of Scorpio Electric vehicles.
Joshua Goh, Chief Executive Officer of Scorpio Electric said, "This marks a significant stride forward for Scorpio Electric to create a truly international product, and a positive step forward for Singapore to nurture a local automotive ecosystem. With a longstanding partnership with LTA, we've collectively navigated a rigorous process to pioneer this initiative, prioritising the safety of our public road stakeholders. We are thrilled to receive the SPL. The dedication and hard work of our team have brought us to this pivotal moment, turning our vision into reality as we continue to test our vehicle’s durability and performance, this time on our own home soil. These real-world tests will provide invaluable data to enhance our future product developments.”

This SPL, issued by the LTA on 15 July 2024, marks a significant milestone for Scorpio Electric. The SPL enables Scorpio Electric to conduct real-world testing of its flagship electric vehicle, aimed at validating its durability and performance under real-world conditions.
As part of this SPL, the LTA has issued a Research & Development license plate to Scorpio Electric, to be affixed onto the vehicle while it is being tested on Singapore public roads.
Looking ahead, Scorpio Electric remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering its electric vehicle with production and deliveries expecting to commence in 2025. Over the next coming months, Scorpio Electric will be intensifying its efforts to strengthen partnerships and explore new avenues of growth in the region.
